Alex Lawson

Alex Lawson is a progressive healthcare advocate in the United States, best known as the Executive Director of Social Security Works.

Alex Lawson is a leading national advocate for the protection and expansion of the American social safety net. He leads a coalition of over 300 organizations representing more than 50 million Americans dedicated to defending Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Known for his fiery and insightful commentary, Alex is a frequent voice in the media, appearing regularly on major TV and radio outlets. He is a prominent strategist in the fight to lower prescription drug prices and take on “Big Pharma.”

Alex has been a key ally to Senator Bernie Sanders, often serving as a featured speaker at high-energy healthcare rallies across the country. On stage in front of thousands or testifying before policymakers, Alex is dedicated to the principle that healthcare is a human right and that Social Security is the bedrock of economic dignity for every American.

Alex is frequently on the ground in rural and tribal areas, where his work bridges the gap between federal policy and local Montana healthcare challenges.

This month, Alex is a lead speaker at healthcare rallies across the state, including high-profile events at the Providence St. Joseph Medical Clinic in Polson.

He works directly with Big Sky 55+ to organize Montanans to demand that Congress address the state’s massive insurance premium hike seen in 2026.

Lawson has been a vocal proponent of increasing funding for Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities in Montana
